Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 can (5 oz) chunk light tuna, drained
  • 2 tbsp mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup celery, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup onion, finely chopped
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 2 tbsp butter, softened
  • 4 slices of bread (white, whole grain, or sourdough)

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, break apart the drained tuna and combine it with mayonnaise, celery, onion, salt, and pepper until well mixed.
  2. Spread butter on one side of each slice of bread. On the unbuttered side of one slice, layer the tuna mixture and top with shredded cheddar cheese before placing another slice of bread on top (buttered side out).
  3. Heat a skillet over medium heat and place the sandwich inside. Grill for 3-4 minutes until golden brown.
  4. Flip the sandwich gently using a spatula and grill for an additional 3 minutes until both sides are crispy and the cheese is melted.
  5. Let cool slightly before slicing in half and serving warm.
