  • 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 3 cups Granny Smith apples, peeled and sliced
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 egg (for egg wash) + 1 tbsp water

Instructions

  1. Prepare the crust by mixing flour and salt in a bowl. Cut in cold butter until crumbly. Gradually add ice water until a dough forms. Chill for 30 minutes.
  2. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  3. For the filling, toss apples with granulated sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, and lemon juice in a bowl.
  4. Roll out chilled dough on a floured surface to about 1/8 inch thick. Cut into circles (approximately 4 inches wide).
  5. Assemble by placing circles on parchment and adding apple filling. Fold over edges and seal.
  6. Brush with egg wash and bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
