Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
  • 1 cup apple cider (warm)
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar (packed)
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • 2 large eggs (room temperature)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 2 cups diced apples (Granny Smith recommended)

Instructions

  1. Warm apple cider in a saucepan until it reaches about 110°F. In a mixing bowl, combine half of the warm cider and yeast; let sit for five minutes until frothy.
  2. Stir in melted butter, granulated sugar, salt, eggs, and remaining cider. Gradually mix in flour until a soft dough forms.
  3. Knead on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm spot until doubled in size (about one hour).
  4. Prepare filling by mixing brown sugar, cinnamon, and diced apples in a bowl.
  5. Roll out the dough into a rectangle about half an inch thick. Spread softened butter over the dough and evenly sprinkle the apple mixture on top.
  6. Roll tightly from one edge into a log shape and cut into one-inch pieces. Place rolls in a greased baking dish.
  7. Let rise again for about thirty minutes while preheating the oven to 350°F.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown. Drizzle with icing made from powdered sugar mixed with milk.
